Specs as the New Skill Floor
Spent time with SpecKit building a Flutter app — offline expense tracking, P2P sync, settlement engine. No Dart knowledge going in. No Flutter installed on my machine.
The app shipped. That’s almost beside the point.
What actually mattered was the spec. Every feature started as a written intent — what it does, why, what good looks like. The AI handled the unknowns in the stack. The spec handled the unknowns in the product. Without it, you get fast code toward the wrong thing.
The skill floor has shifted. You don’t need to know the tech stack. You need to know what you’re building well enough to govern it. SpecKit builds its workflow around exactly that constraint.
